Making a Heather dress

I thought I would make a Heather dress and share the process with you.
Session 1.
I ordered a Heather dress pattern in a PDF format, this is my first PDF pattern, I sent it to a friend who is in the printing trade and he printed it out for me. I traced it onto tracing paper which would be my pattern, I cut the pattern pieces out so it’s ready to go.

Session 2
A visit to the Sew Over It shop in Islington, very exciting, purchased 2 metres of Pont Roma jersey in the navy and white spot. The next step is to cut the dress out which I will be doing later this week.
Unfortunately, my sewing machine has to make a visit to the shop for a service so I hopefully it will be back by the weekend.

Session 3
Yippee sewing machine back from shop and only service needed, dress cut out and tailor tacks completed, pinned and ready for sewing, followed the instructions to the letter, the dress went together very well, just minor fitting alterations needed. Zigzagged all seams and pressed.
Session 4
Today I inserted the sleeves, ¾ length I find this length best for me. Next I added the neck band, I tried the dress on to check the length of dress and sleeves and that the band was sitting ok. Then I top stitched the neck band, sleeve hems and hem. Lastly gave it a final press and it was ready to wear on Good Friday. What a success I absolutely love it, I will be making some more but my next project is the Ultimate trousers.

Thank you Sew Over it

I hope you like this and continue to follow the progress.

Bye for now.
